Bostitch/Stanley

The Stanley Bostitch company has a rich history forging its brand legacy. Back in 1896, Thomas Briggs invented a revolutionary way to bind books together with wire using what later became known as the wire stitcher. Shortly after he founded the Boston Wire Stitcher Company. The first foot-operated Boston Wire Stitchers were produced in 1903. Efficient and unique in design, they were an immediate success.

It did not take too long before The Bostitch Model A Staple Binder was developed in 1906. It used the first preformed staples on tin cores, which were held together by paper wrapping. Then, the first ever portable stapler, the Bostitch Model AO was produced in 1914 and was improved upon through the years. Its compact design and simplified loading allowed for widespread use. In 1923, the Bostitch Model B-1 Desk Stapler was the first to use a coiled pusher spring and a year later the company introduced the first strip of easy-to-load "cemented" staples, which became the "standard staple" still used today! From machine gun belts to nail guns, Bostitch was constantly on the path of consistent innovation.

Then in 1986, Stanley Works of New Britain, Connecticut acquired Bostitch from Textron and the company continues to improve upon their already top-notch quality products and supplies, like scissors, staplers, and pencil sharpeners with no end in sight.
